University of Staffordshire awarded the RCN Foundation Amin Abdullah Grant
Deana James, Adult Nurse Lecturer at the University of Staffordshire, was successful in her 2023 application for the RCN Foundation Amin Abdullah Grant.
Inter-Professional Well-Being and Resilience Conference and Workshops
Deana’s project created a conference and series of workshops open to students and staff from all health and social care disciplines. Topics of discussion included well-being and resilience in health and social care, along with workshops to introduce opportunities including relevant tools, activities and support mechanisms in place to increase or maintain well-being and resilience.
The overall aim of the project was to highlight the importance of well-being and resilience within nursing and health and social care, and to encourage students to allow time to prioritise this, in turn enhancing compassionate, safer and more effective patient care.
Navigating Adversity and Thriving Through Empowering Resilience (NATTER) among healthcare students and practitioners
The project team ran the conference in 2024 and due to it's success, it was funded by the university in 2025.
Feedback from the initial conference was captured, which hopes to support the longevity of the conference, as well as utilising organisations and other networks/interprofessional colleagues to support their own resilience and well-being.
